Truck Accident at I-4 and U.S. 27 in Haines City

A serious accident happened at the intersection of Interstate 4 and U.S. 27 in Haines City, Florida.  The accident happened on the ramp to the east of the interchange.  A photograph shown in The Ledger is pictured above.  The accident occurred when the semi-truck attempted to cross U.S. 27 from the Richie Brother’s entrance.  Under Florida law, the semi-truck was required to wait until it was clear or had enough time and distance to safely cross the roadway without adversely affecting the travel of other vehicles.  Alfonso Diaz-Gomez and Juana Diaz died of their injuries from the accident.
