Small Airplane Accident Cessna 310R

News Events

A small airplane tipped forward resulting in a propeller strike on the runway during a landing maneuver at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport on August 26, 2016. The plane involved appears to be a Cessna 310R. The Cessna 310R is a twin engine aircraft with two 285 hp engines and typically cruises at 185 knots.

Cases involving an injury or death in a small airplane crash frequently involve a corporate owner of the aircraft, an NTSB investigation or report, maintenance records, and a number of other items that may reveal relevant information to the crash.

A propeller strike incident such as this one can easily result in a knee injury from the dashboard or a head injury from striking something in the cockpit of the aircraft. An incident such as this is a reminder that pulling the seatbelt tight while in a small aircraft is essential. If the seatbelt is not pulled tight, the pilot could be forced out of position in the seat and lose control of the aircraft if not properly strapped in.
